Living close to village life is a different brief from choosing a home whose main attraction is its garden, outlook or residential estate.

La Zagaleta’s own address places it in Benahavís. For an estate-based search, establish the exact entrance, visitor arrangements and the terms of any facilities that matter to you. Keep each estate’s identity and services distinct rather than applying one description across the municipality.

A hillside property needs a three-dimensional assessment. Examine how the house, garage, pool and garden sit relative to one another. A large plot is not necessarily a large level garden, and an impressive outlook does not tell you how conveniently the outdoor spaces connect.

Ask to see changes in level and the route between everyday rooms. Consider whether guests, children or someone with reduced mobility could move comfortably through the house. Drive the approach yourself and check the final turn, driveway and parking arrangement. Return after dark if that is when you would commonly arrive. Then test your route to the coast or other regular destinations without assuming that a published journey time will match your own.

Inside the home, look beyond the principal view. Check daylight in secondary bedrooms, storage and working space, and the usability of covered terraces. Request maintenance information for the building systems and ask what upkeep the plot requires throughout the year.
