Pools and the promenade
Use the hotel as a base for alternating a pool afternoon with a walk by the sea. Ask about pool heating and seasonal arrangements if swimming every day is important.
THE ASH & KEY COLLECTION
The sea on one side. Marbella on the other.
El Fuerte is especially appealing when you want both beach time and the streets of Marbella's old town. Its central seafront position gives a short stay an easy rhythm: breakfast, a walk, a swim and an evening in town can all belong to the same day. The hotel combines a contemporary five-star setting with a location that encourages you to explore beyond the grounds.
We would choose it for a first introduction to Marbella, or for a return visit when restaurant freedom matters more than a remote retreat. The question is less whether there is enough to do and more how much you want to fit in. A sea-facing room can make a quiet morning feel like part of the holiday, while the Selected offering is worth comparing on its actual benefits rather than its label alone.
Couples and visitors who want the beach, promenade and old town to form one easy itinerary.
This is a central hotel with the activity that brings. Compare room outlooks and ask which pool or lounge areas accompany your chosen category.
Share your dates, who is travelling and what matters most. We can discuss the hotel and help shape your plans. If a home here is part of the picture, we can arrange viewings around your stay.
Still exploring? You don’t need fixed dates.

For two people spending most of the day outside, a well-positioned room may be more valuable than additional floor area. If terrace time is a priority, specify front sea view and ask about the actual terrace layout. For families, request a confirmed sleeping arrangement before comparing rates: the Selected Junior Suite is published for two guests, despite the suite name.
| Category | Published size | What sets it apart |
|---|---|---|
| Classic and sea-view rooms | Category dependent | Compare city, side-sea and front-sea outlooks rather than assuming they are interchangeable. |
| Selected rooms | Category dependent | An enhanced service tier; ask for the current list of inclusions. |
| Selected Junior Suite Front Sea View | 37 m² | Front-facing sea outlook and a terrace with sofa; published maximum occupancy is two. |
| Selected La Dama Master Suite | 85 m² | A larger suite with a published 29 m² terrace and bath plus shower. |
Published areas may include outdoor space. Confirm the exact layout, occupancy and inclusions for the room offered.
The published suite amenities include a coffee maker, kettle, pillow selection and a ceiling fan over the bed. The practical distinction is the combination of outlook, terrace and Selected benefits, so compare the total stay rather than just the room price.

The hotel's spa is a useful complement to a town-and-beach break. Clarify access under your chosen rate and book treatments separately where required; inclusion can vary with category and length of stay.
Selected is worth considering when you expect to spend substantial time in the hotel. Request the current lounge, breakfast and wellness benefits so that you can judge which you will actually use.
The central setting is the defining amenity. Leave one afternoon unscheduled for the old town and return by the promenade, giving yourself a more useful sense of the neighbourhood than a tightly packed excursion.
Breakfast is a recurring highlight in the guest accounts we reviewed. Avoid scheduling an early departure every morning; on a short break, an unhurried breakfast can be one of the simplest pleasures.
Balance a meal within the hotel with an evening exploring Marbella. For a special restaurant, confirm the current menu and opening days, while keeping another night free for a less formal choice.
Genevieve praised the condition of the hotel, the staff and its position by the boardwalk and old town.

Mekdim enjoyed the location but found breakfast service less attentive and the hotel crowded at times. An August Tripadvisor account also noted stones and rocks along the shoreline. These are useful distinctions between enjoying a beachfront location and expecting soft sand underfoot everywhere.

Particularly convincing for a walkable Marbella break, with the right outlook and rate benefits chosen in advance.

A stay here helps test whether central Marbella would work beyond a holiday. Try the routes to breakfast, the beach and evening restaurants at your own pace. We can then compare homes that preserve that walkability with options offering more privacy or outdoor space farther from the centre.
Choose the right dates, room and pace for your visit.
Ask for the exact room outlook, terrace arrangement, Selected inclusions and parking terms. If you arrive early, plan luggage storage and a walk rather than relying on an early room.
Share room preferences, accessibility needs, children’s ages and any occasion you are celebrating. Ask for the cancellation terms, included meals and additional charges in writing before confirming.
